200 000 front J.C. : Presence of the paleolithic hunters.

200-148 front J.C. : Foundation of the Kingdom of Numidy by Massinissa who allied with the Romans in the second

    Punie Wars. Carthage déclares the war (150 B.C) what starts the third Punie War.

148-105 front J.C. : Jugurtha, grand son of Massinissa reunified Numidie but was beaten by Rome and was imprisoned.

105-25 front J.C : Berber kings and princes reign on the country as allied or vassal of the Romans.

25 front J.c-24 : Juba II king of Numidie then of Mauritania.

40-190 : Algeria is integrated into the Roman empire. Creation of several urban and prosperous zones such

    as Timgad and Lambèse.

193-211 : Caracalla son of the Severe emperor Seventh born in North Africa confers the Roman citizenship on all the free subjects.

211-429 : Period of Christianity. Among the greatest personalities of this time, Holy Augustin.

429-533 : Invasion of the Vandals who were beaten in 533 by Bélisaire. Byzance reconquered the country.

533-660 : The Berberes confederations take the interior of the country which will be followed rising of heresies.

660-740 : Arrival of the Moslems under Okba Ibn Nafi '. In spite of the resistance of Kahina. Amazigh are converted

    into mass with the new religion and take part in the expansion of the religion in Africa, Andalusia and Europe.

740-911 : Several regional principalities are created.

911-972 : Reign of Fatimides and creation of the town of Algiers in 935.

972-1050 : Fatimides leave Algeria for Egypt and leave the power within the hands of the Zirides.

1050-1060 : Invasion of Béni Hilal, coming from High Egypt which destroy all on their way.

1060-1150 : Almoravides reunify North Africa and Andalusia.

1150-1300 : Almohades seize the power.

1300-1500 : Several kingdoms follow one another: Hafsides, Zianides and Mérinides.

    Several independent principalities parcel out the country.

1492-1518 : After the conquest of Andalusia, Spanish triy to occupy the Algerian coastal cities. Algerian calls upon

     the Ottoman empire.

1518-1830 : Algeria is under the Ottoman empire but with a certain autonomy. Oran is released from the Spanish hands in 1792.

1830-1902 : France occupies Algiers (1830) after a three year old seat. Then other cities, until Hoggar(1902). Algerian resisted

     the occupation militarily (EmirAbdEIKader, Ahmed Bey, Sheik Bouamama. Sheik EIMokrani, Lala Fatma N' Soumer...)

1902-1945 : Algerian nationalism develops with the creation of several parties and movements.

1945 : PeacefuI popular rising of 8 May 1945 repressed by the French Army, more than 45000 dead.

1954-1962 : Military revolution of the Algerian people under the wing of the National Face of Release.

1962 : Cease tire pronounced on March 19th after the signature of the agreements of Evian. Yes carries it in the referendum

    of self-determination of July. July 5th,1962, the independence of Algeria is proclaimed.

1962-1963 : Election of a constituent assembly and first adopted constitution.

1963-1965 : Ahmed Ben Bella becomes the president of the Algerian Republic.

1965-1989 : Boumediene president of the council of the revolution then president of the Republic after the constitution of 1976.

    Chadli Bendjedid succeeds to him in 1979 after its death.

1989-1996 : Unstable period, after the proclamation of the multipartism and the launching of terrorism in certain zones of the north

    of the country. Several presidents follow one another among them Mohamed Boudiaf.

Since 1996 : The security situation improves, the political and economie situations become stable and a new era starts.

At the end of 2002 : On the tourist level just for the new year's Eve 2003, we had around 10.000 tourists in Tamanrasset

    and approximately 3 000 in Timimoun.

2003 : Fall of the tourist activity in the Sahara of 75% following the affair of the disappearance of a group of tourists.

2004 : Restarting of activity.

Year 2005 : Proclamation of tourism by the president of the republic, Mr. Abdelaziz Bouteflika, as priority sector that it is in

    receptive tourism or the national investment.

Forecast 2005 : Final restarting of the sector of tourism in the whole territory.
